Not many people know this about me, but I actually have a degree in Photography! During my three year University course, I studied Digital Photography, Film Photography, Digital Video, Photography Theory and lots more. I took a different direction for my career path when I moved to Hong Kong (at least for now…) but I still enjoy taking snaps every now and again.
In this blog post, I will be sharing my Hong Kong in Film series of pictures. I used a Kodak M35 camera to take these photos. This camera is a very simple, point and shoot camera that is really fun to try out! I’d love to take a lot more at some point, but here are the shots I got so far.
Wan Chai
I took the photos above in Wan Chai when visiting Victoria Harbour, the beautiful, throbbing heart of Hong Kong. You can read more about Wan Chai in my Wan Chai Neighbourhood Guide. I love the blue tones of these images.
Lantau Island
All of those photos were taken in Lantau Island. I took some whilst doing the Sunset Peak Hike (Hong Kong third’s highest mountain!) and the others were taken at Mui Wo, a lovely little village. I feel these images really capture the calm and peaceful feeling of Lantau Island. It’s undoubtedly one of the best places to take a break from the busy city life.
Chai Wan
Lastly, I captured these two images at a little arcade in Chai Wan. You can find a lot of these game stations or arcades dotted around Hong Kong, usually in malls or random street side shops.
It was a really fun experience to take my Kodak M35 out for a whirl around Hong Kong, and I’m pretty pleased with the results!
It has inspired me to take a lot more photographs of the beautiful scenery that is found in Hong Kong.
